Australia's premier awards for unproduced scripts open for entries

17 September, 2018

It's time to polish off those final drafts and put your best script forward as entries have opened for the 2018 Monte Miller Awards, the premier awards for unproduced scripts in Australia.

Dedicated to uncovering the hottest new scripts and voices across the country, the Awards shine a spotlight on the future of our screen and stage writing talent and present a unique opportunity for up-and-coming screenwriters to showcase their work directly to industry decision-makers.

The winning screenwriters and scripts will be made eligible for AWG's prestigious Pathways Program and will be announced at a dedicated event attended by producers, distributors and leading industry figures in Melbourne in early 2019.

2017 winners Arky Michael and Kym Vercoe saw their script's future taken to new heights following last year's win: 'The Monte Miller Award was not just a fun night with other nominees, but enabled us to secure a producer for our feature projectMrs Burswood, substantial development funding from Scripted Ink, and the professional support of AWG's team who advised us on our option contract. It’s a great platform to get noticed for new writers.'

The 2018 Monte Miller Awards open Tuesday 18 September 2018 and will close midnight Sunday 21 October 2018.

Categories are open to short and long form work across all genres and formats including film, television, theatre, and interactive media.
