Joan Ambrose, a professional writer, has national and international credits. Her work encompasses broadcasting and writing for stage, film, television, radio and publication. She is a script editor/assessor in film, television and animation and a supervising production editor.

Serhat is an Australian Film Television & Radio (AFTRS) award winning Directing Graduate. He is an AWG and AFI nominated screenwriter and also filmmaker. Michael Clarkin is an award-winning producer with various credits in short and feature films. In 2006, Clarkin was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and worked in script development at New York indie This is that Corp, the company behind films including: ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’; ’21 Grams’ and ‘The American’. In Australia, Clarkin has worked in development for ‘Wolf Creek’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Coffin Rock’ producer David Lightfoot’s Ultrafilms.
A screenwriter and script analyst whose clients have included Maguire Entertainment and the Sundance Institute, Barbara is a graduate of UCLA's Professional Program in Screenwriting and has written and produced award-winning documentaries as well as the independent feature, Landfall. In addition to her other writing projects, she is currently pursuing a PhD at Murdoch University.
Timothy Daly is a multi-award winning writer, mainly for theatre and radio. His stage play Kafka Dances has won over a dozen national and intentional awards, and is the most internationally-performed Australian play of the last three decades. In 2009, after a 20-city tour of France, it plays at the prestigious Avignon Festival, and the year after will tour Poland. In May, 2008, Timothy Daly’s most recent play, The Man in the Attic was awarded the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award. Its American premiere was in April, 2009. He has also written for radio, film and television. His radio work has been broadcast in seven countries.
Susan Danta is an award-winning independent animator based in Sydney. She is a member of the Australian Director's Guild and PromaxBDA ANZ. She has been on the selection committee for festivals and government funding agencies. Her films include "Heirlooms" (funded by Screen Australia/SBS and winner at the Mumbai International Film Festival and the Bradford Animation Festival); "Mother Tongue: (funded by Screen Australia and winner at the Melbourne International Animation Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, nominated for an AFI); "Amine" (SBS Commission animated documentary); "The Bronze Mirror" (winner at the Australian Effects and Animation Festival - student film category); "Shadowplay" (winner at the Sydney Asia Pacific Film Festival, Dendy Award nominee); and "Driving Home" (winner at the Melbourne International Student Animation Festival, Sydney Asia Pacific Film Festival, Kaleidoscope Film Festival). Her films have travelled extensively at festivals including Annecy, Oberhausen, Stuttgart and Leipzig. Susan has exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, The 4th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea and Smithsonian Institute USA. She holds a Masters Degree from the Australian Film Television and Radio School and a PhD candidate in the field of Animated Documentaries.
Margaret Davis is a writer for both theatre and film. She has had extensive experience as a theatre director, including premiere productions of seminal Australian plays. She has won numerous awards, fellowships and commissions for her own works, which include mainstage, physical theatre and plays for young audiences. She has recently completed a feature screenplay, Trick of the Light, and is working on a second, In the Pink. She has lectured at the University of Western Sydney and the University of Wollongong and is currently lecturing in Film and Theatre for the BA in Performance at AADA. She has broad experience as a script assessor and dramaturg and recently completed the inaugural Script Assessment Training Program with AWG and AFTRS.
Jo Dillon is a writer and script consultant. She has worked in development with independent film producers, directors, screen agencies and writers in the UK and , since arriving in Australia in 2012, as a development consultant to local independent producers, as an assessor for the AWG and Film Victoria, and as a lecturer and script mentor at Open Channel. She works across all genres in drama, docudrama and documentary. She is used to working with both emerging and established writers and many previous clients and their projects have gone on to achieve critical and commercial success. She trained with The Script Factory and Arista and has an MA in Creative Writing. She is a former UK national newspaper journalist.
Coral Drouyn is one of Australia’s best known and most prolific Australian television drama writers/script editors/producers. With a staggering 900 hours of television credits to her name she also has two feature films to her credit and especially enjoys mentoring and editing new writers. Coral was born into a British Show biz family and started her career as an actress at age 4. For 25 years she did stand up comedy, wrote and produced comedy revues and contributed to TV Comedy…most notably for Steptoe and Son’s Aussie Royal Command Performance. Starting with the iconic Prisoner (Cell Block H), which she headed as writer and story editor for six years, Coral has created material or written for 27 Australian television network drama shows and won a 2003 AWGIE award for outstanding writing. She was Script Producer and head writer on Blue Heelers, (infamously killing Maggie Doyle) and then spent two years on Home and Away, putting it into the top ten shows nationally. Since then she has Script Produced, written and edited 3 series of Streetsmartz for Great Western Entertainment as well as writing the international sci fi series Stormworld and is now working on a commissioned international screenplay.
Maria has an academic background in Arts Literature with teaching experience and specific interest n classic literature and drama. She has written in a variety of formats and genres, including agazine publications and comedy sketches for live performances. Her absolute passion is feature screen writing and the dynamics of a well written, well constructed script. She has written a number of feature film screenplays, including an historical period drama based on an heroic true life, currently
under confidentiality agreement with a major Hollywood production company. She has also recently completed a modern day adventure thriller and a documentary. Maria is a SATP participant and alumni.
A graduate of AFTRS, Catherine is a producer, director and screenwriter with broadcast credits in Australia and internationally. She is also a script assessor (VCA), editor and consultant; and a published author in Australia and the UK. Her film nominations include AFI Best Documentary and a UN Media Peace award.
Graeme Farmer has been a film and television script editor and script writer for thirty years. He has worked in all genres, from telemovies to serial. He has also written and edited feature film scripts. Lately he has worked extensively in children's drama. He has been an assessor for the film funding bodies, as well as mentor for first time screen writers through Film Victoria.
Tim Ferguson is Australia's foremost teacher of narrative comedy for the screen. He wrote the bestselling screenwriter manual, 'The Cheeky Monkey-Writing Narrative Comedy'. Tim has co-written two broadcast sitcom series and multiple comedy TV series in Australia and the UK. He teaches comedy and screenwriting at RMIT University, AFTRS, the VCA and around the world.
Katrina has a Bachelor of Dramatic Art from NIDA and is also a graduate of the NIDA Playwrights Studio. She has worked as an actor for many years in theatre, film and television and then later as a storyliner, script editor and regular writer for television. In 2006 she was nominated for an AWGIE award in the serial drama category. Katrina has also worked as the literary manager at Belvoir St Theatre and continues to work as a script assessor and reader for PlayWriting Australia. Katrina currently teaches Writing for Performance at UTS.
John has worked internationally as a screenwriter, director and actor before moving to Australia in 2007. More recently, John has been working in L.A. developing various screenplays - three of which have been optioned. She holds qualifications in drama, adult and children’s literature, creative writing and education. Robert has assessed scripts for every state funding body including the ACTF, is an independent assessor for ACMA, has lectured at Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University, Victoria University and has run courses for the Singapore Media Authority. He currently writes and script produces children’s live action & animation series. Robert has been nominated for an AWGIE twice and won one for his writing on Round the Twist.

Rita Kalnejais has worked extensively as an actor with STC, Malthouse and Belvoir Theatre in classical and new works. In script assessment and development, she has worked with several of Australia’s most active film production houses and with PWA. She also has a strong background in the technical aspects of film making and writing specifically for film. Rita has a good instinct for authenticity, heart and maintaining momentum. Her strength is helping facilitate the work’s heartbeat and the voice of the writer to reach their full and powerful potential.
Award winning Writer and Director, Sarah Lambert has built an impressive international career. Her credits include Clone Story for M6 (France), God In Government (Cine Gold Eagle/PBS) and The Play’s The Thing for PBS for which she was recognised with an EMMY nomination. Sarah was the co-creator, writer and director of a 65 part children’s series, Aliens Among Us for Channel 5 (UK). Her other TV drama credits include The Alice, All Saints, Dance Academy and Love My Way. She has written features for Working Title, Columbia Tri-star and IDTV Film, the latest being the epic true story Nadra (Singaporean/Dutch co-pro) and Red Dress which she will direct in late 2009 in Australia.
Alan Love is a writer based in the Blue Mountains NSW and has film and television projects in various stages of development. Alan also assesses scripts for the AWG. Alan has written for television, including Heartbreak High and his short scripts and films have won awards, including Scuff the Sock (Kaboodle) and Work Ready, which won the Silver Shorts at the Australian Shorts Film Festival.
Gabiann has been a successful writer in almost every medium including stage, screen, broadcast and multimedia. She has won international awards for her children’s books and television scripts and in 2000 established one of Sydney’s original independent writer’s development agencies – Telltales Script and Story Development, through which she has helped develop over 200 independent projects towards production or publication. She has successfully worked with writers, producers, publishers and new content developers on all manner of projects and believes the most important role of a story developer is to understand and help the writer’s vision be realised in the most effective, engaging way - regardless of the medium for which it is created.
Before going freelance Peter Matheson worked for 13 years as company dramaturg with Melbourne Theatre Company. Since then he has assessed scripts and/or worked dramaturgically with most of the major mainstage (as well as many smaller and regional) theatre companies and all the assessment agencies in Australia. He has taught playwrighting and tutored in educational institutions from tertiary to the hobbyist.

Stephen Measday is an award-winning scriptwriter in children’s and adult television.
His awards include an Australian Writers Guild (AWGIE) Award for the original radio
drama, Partners, and a UN Media Peace Award for an episode of A Country Practice.
He worked as Script Editor on the Logie Award-winning Channel 9 program, Hi-5,
between 2001-2010. The program was nominated for U.S. Emmy Awards in 2005,
2006 and 2007. In the last five years, he has worked extensively on developing new
live action and animation television series, like Enyo. Stephen has also written for
Erky Perky, Blue Heelers, GP, Wicked, Mirror, Mirror 2, The Ferals, Ship to Shore
and Skytrackers 2. He has also written an original feature, The Time Game (also
published as a novel). He has had three plays produced for the stage, including
Mark Twain Down Under, which premiered at the Victorian Arts Centre. In publishing,
Stephen’s children's and young adult novels have been published in Australia, Germany,
the United States, the UK, France, Indonesia and South Korea. His latest three book
time travel series is Send Simon Savage.
John O’Brien is a film and TV writer best known as creator of the Fireflies TV series, and for the feature, A Wreck, A Tangle, telemovie Loot and short films Lessons In The Language Of Love and Masseur.
Tee O'Neill has been a script writer and lecturer in performance writing for fifteen years. Her writing has been awarded the Edward Albee Award, RE Ross Trust Award, Siena International Play Award and an International Residency at the Royal Court Theatre. She has been nominated for the Griffin Award, NSW Premier's Award, AWGIE award and Patrick White Award.
Larry is a writer and script analyst who returned to Australia in 2012 after spending two years working in development in the UK. He’s assessed film and TV projects for BBC Films, Momentum Pictures/Alliance Films, Mammoth Screen, the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writers Forum, the Channel 4 Screenwriters Course, the London Screenwriters Festival, Stephen Fry’s Sprout Pictures, was a screenwriting mentor at the London Film School and a storyliner on Hollyoaks at Lime Pictures. A graduate of the NIDA Playwrights Studio (06) and with a Masters in Screenwriting from AFTRS (08), Larry has also assessed scripts in LA for Lionsgate and participated in Screen Australia's Script Factory Developers Initiative. He still hopes to achieve his childhood ambition of becoming a walrus.
Mark Poole has extensive experience as a screenwriter and director. His work has been honoured with a number of awards, including an AFI Award for the telefeature A Single Life, (1987, directed by John Power.) Mark has written more than 20 hours of broadcast television drama for all networks.
Kevin started his writing career in the theatre and his first two plays had professional productions and earned critical awards. He then spent several years writing and editing screenplays before moving into television. He has been involved across the gamut of television drama, having written and edited one hour dramas including: All Saints, Heartbreak High, and Head Start, serials: including Home and Away, and animation series such as Gloria’s House. Along with being credited on hundreds of hours of produced film and TV, he has also taught screen writing and has been a prolific assessor and script consultant for the AWG, funding bodies, writers and producers.
Ian Rochford is a Sydney-based member of the AWG who has been assessing scripts since 1999. He has written comedy and drama for television, short film and feature as well as corporate, experimental and independent projects, and shared the 2003 AWGIE Award for Children's television. Ian also has practical experience in short and feature film-making, television production and script development. He knows what happens to your script when it goes into production, and can offer advice on how the technical realities of production may both affect and enhance your script.
Camilla has written and directed for theatre and is currently the producer for the Riverside Theatres, Parramatta where she presents many new Australian plays developed through Breakout the Riverside development program. She has had a career as an actor in film and television and for over twelve years was a successful costume designer working in film. Camilla has dramaturgical training and holds a post grad in writing for performance from UTS.
Perth Screenwriter, Sarah Rossetti, has film credits in a wide variety of genres. She has won four AWGIES, a Lotteries Commission Award for Film Excellence, and a WA Premier’s Award. In addition, Sarah has won an If Award for Best Emerging Australian Talent. Sarah enjoys working as a Script Editor; occasionally tutoring scriptwriting at three WA Universities; and being commissioned to write drama and documentaries for television. Sarah has just completed her PHD in Media Studies at Murdoch University.
Karel Segers is a story consultant, script editor and producer with nearly 20 years of experience in international film rights acquisition, script development and production. He is also a qualified teacher whose lectures have inspired and trained students in Australia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His clients include international award-winning filmmakers as well as three Academy Award nominees. Karel founded the leading screenwriting website The Story Department and ranks in the world's Top 10 most influential "Tweeters" for screenwriting. In 2012 he launched Logline It!, the world's only online resource exclusively dedicated to the critical craft of writing loglines, which has since received over 3000 logline comments.
Brett Stanning is a screenwriter/director who’s made short films including the AFC-funded Play in 2007 and has directed, produced, script edited and/or marketed many others. He is currently writing two genre features for a local producer, developing his own spec screenplays and has just recently co-created a new comedy series with writer/comedian Tim Ferguson. For the last decade Brett has worked in a group hothousing feature screenplays for emerging filmmakers. He teaches Narrative TV Comedy and Screenwriting at RMIT University School of Creative Media, sharing his own character-focused-take on Classic 3-Act Structure and how it can be used to either build a compelling story from the ground up or hammer an existing one into outstanding shape.

Billy Marshall Stoneking
Billy Marshall Stoneking is a published and produced screenwriter/producer who has worked extensively in film, television, radio & theatre. He is the author of seven books including the Australian Classic Singing the Snake. During his seven years in the Drama Department at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, he originated and taught the legendary Drama of Screenwriting workshop. His writing and production credits include the ABC-TV drama series, Stringer (creator/writer), Mission : Impossible (series writer, Paramount Television); the feature, Seeing the Elephant (writer/producer, 2013), and the feature documentary, Indecent Xposure (Executive Producer, 2012). Other recent notable films include the documentaries, TWO and A Clown in a Crowd (with Maya Newell). Billy has also script edited many award-winning films including Chopper, Crocodile Dreaming, East of Everything, The Magician & Maya Newell's award-winning doco, Richard: The most interestingest person I've ever met.
Derek Strahan has worked for over 50 years in the Film, TV and music industries in Australia and New Zealand as a writer, producer, director and composer. He has written extensively for TV series and serials, including 5 years as a contract writer for Number 96, and episodes of Glenview High, Chopper Squad, Cop Shop, Carrots! (Children's TV), and Flying Start (ABC series on small business). His work in Feature Film includes 3 psychodramas, 2 shown on Channel 9: Leonora, Cult of Diana and Fantasy distributed internationally by Columbia Tristar. He was written over 150 script assessments for the AWG covering every film genre, and has frequently give script-writing courses. From 1982 - 1992 he was regularly engaged to conduct 8-week and 16-week courses for the Film & TV Workshop, Bathurst St and was an occasional lecturer at Sydney Institute of Technology and the NSW Film & TV School, Ryde. More recently he conducted a 4-day seminar on Writing Film Treatments for AWG Associate members and was a panellist for an Associates Evening on Script Writing.
In the 1980s Jeanne worked in film in Brisbane, including co-writing the AFI Best Short Fiction film of 1983, A Town Like This. In the 90s she began working as an adult educator in NSW. She taught for 15 years (Communication, English, Creative Writing). She has also worked in the Community Services sector. In 2008 Jeanne graduated from UQ with an M.Phil (Creative Writing). She has recently written, directed and edited a promotional short for a community services facility. Jeanne completed the AWG Script Assessor Training Program.
Lily Taylor has worked extensively as a scriptwriter, editor and producer for over fifteen years with credits on many well-known TV shows including ‘McLeod’s Daughters’, ‘All Saints’ and the long running serial ‘Home and Away’. She was also part of the story team behind the internationally renowned, award winning cult SciFi series Farscape for the Jim Henson Company. As well Lily has assessed hundreds of feature scripts as a reader for REP Distribution and as a mentor to many scriptwriters over the years.
Dr Marilyn Tofler
With a PhD in screenwriting and training at UCLA's prestigious Graduate School of Film, Television and Theatre, Marilyn in Australia's foremost script doctor. Marilyn has worked as a script assessor for Village Roadshow, ABC Television (Comedy), Film Victoria and in Los Angeles for Twentieth Century Fox and NBC Entertainment, searching for new writers for Seinfeld, Frasier, Mad About You, Friends and more. She has most recently co-created and written the television comedy, Whatever Happened to That Guy? As a performer, Marilyn has appeared in Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story and has performed as a stand-up comic in the U.S. and Australia. Marilyn is a screenwriting lecturer, professional student mentor and graduate research and creative supervisor at VCA and is also a guest lecturer at RMIT and
Chris is a writer, director and teacher. A former Artistic Director of St Martins Youth Arts Centre in Melbourne and HotHouse Theatre in Albury-Wodonga and has written for theatre, film and television. His plays have been nominated for four AWGIE awards, winning twice and his screenplay for the feature film The Tumbler was nominated for the QLD Premier’s Literary Awards and won the 2007 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award. He was co-creator and head writer for two seasons of Shock Jock on TV1-Foxtel and writer for the digital dome-show, Problem With Pluto at the Melbourne Planetarium. Earlier this year he was script editor on a new television project for Buon Giorno Productions and is currently developing a new half hour series with Mondayitis. Chris has reviewed teenage fiction for Viewpoint Magazine since 1995, has been an AWGIE judge for many years, lectures at ACU in theatre and playwriting, is a member of the Grants Panels for the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, on the national Board of the Australian Script Centre and is Chair of the Victorian Writers’ Centre.
Nick is a graduate of the Creative Writing program at the University of Wollongong. In 2005-06 he was principal writer in the development of Buju and Sput, an animation comedy series for ages 8-12. His feature film projects include The Palace (comedy), Select Few (Psychological, Sci-Fi, Thriller) and Waratah House (Sci-Fi, Thriller). Nick specialises in comedy, action and suspense/thriller.
A former actor and dancer, Chris’ stage play X Ray, about Australian citizen David Hicks, was named the “sensation” of the 2004 Adelaide Fringe and the “highlight” of the 2005 Darwin Festival. The screenplay version of X Ray (funded by the SAFC) was runner-up in the Adelaide Film Festival’s 2007 Unproduced Screenplay Competition and is in currently development with ABC TV.
JT Velikovsky is a screenwriter and consultant for Film, Games and Television. His feature film writing credits include the multi-award winning CAUGHT INSIDE (2011) and game writing credits include Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal (which has sold over 1 million units), Jumper: Griffin's Story (based on the Fox movie) and XCOM. An AFTRS Screenwriting graduate, he has written for TV, been a Script Assessor for NSW FTO, Screen Tasmania and Fox Studios, and worked as a Game Design / Writing Mentor for the Australia Council. Steve Warne is Factual Development Manager at Film Victoria. Independently, he is a non-fiction media consultant, teaches writing for TAFE and is developing his own screen based projects. Previously, Steve has been an Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) Board Director and worked as: Director of Production for Time Warner's new media division in Paris, as well as, Writer/Researcher/Producer/Director for SBS TV's Dateline, ABC TV's Documentaries, 4 Corners, Don Featherstone Productions and David Flatman Productions.
Matthew is a Sydney based Actor/Writer who graduated from NIDA in 1997. He has performed extensively across Australia over the past 12 years in Theatre, Film and Television. He has also been writing for theatre, and assessing scripts for companies such as Playwriting Australia, Company B, STC and ATYP for the past 6 years.

His credits include Blood Oath (writer/producer - film/DVD/ book) Fatal Sky and Liquid Bridge (story and book) and the forthcoming productions Giants At Dawn (Feature) The Men of Kokoda (documentary) and The Last Parade (stage play). Brian has been a Script Assessor for the AWG since 1997.
Greg Woodland has been a script editor or script assessor / consultant for all Australian film funding bodies and the AWG since 1998, assessing over 1000 feature scripts. He is also the founder and Director of Script Central, Australia's leading independent script service, for whom he's done hundreds more as well as numerous script editing and scriptwriting commissions. A directing graduate of AFTRS, Greg's award-winning films and documentaries have screened nationally and internationally at over 60 film festivals and many TV stations. Greg has been a judge for several film festival including Sydney Film Festival and the AWGIE Awards.His screenplays have won the Inscription Open Script Award, a Varuna Writers Fellowship, a FAW Award, an AFC Writers Fellowship, AWGIE Award and an ATOM Award. He's also won a Script Editor's Fellowship, been a participant in the AFC's Spark Script Program and the Script Factory Developer's Workshop. His first novel, Pangs has won a 2013 Varuna Writer's Fellowship. He has taught scriptwriting at UTS, NIDA, Metro Screen and other Sydney film schools. His script editing credits comprise many genre and drama feature scripts including The Bet, Needle, Cold Turkey, several Project Greenlight and Monte Miller Award finalists. Though he feels comfortable talking about himself in the third person, Greg is a story-teller whose lifelong passion for stories and movies makes him a rigorous but empathetic assessor.
