When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?
In my early teens, I watched a behind-the-scenes special about Pixar Animation. I immediately wrote them a letter asking what I had to do to work there.
What inspires you?
In no particular order right now: big ideas, small joys, quantum physics, the wisdom of nature, the edges of science, and the things children say.
Why did you join the Guild?

Best moment of your writing career?
My favourite moments will always be doing what I love with people I love.
Best advice you’ve received about writing?
Neil Gaiman’s commencement address, ‘Make Good Art,’ and Michael Arndt’s video essays on beginnings and endings.
What is your best tip for writers?
Work on yourself, not just on your writing. You can learn every trick in the book, but ultimately, what ends up on the page reflects the depth and quality of your being.
What are you working on now?
Giving better hugs, and six television shows. Here’s a cryptic word for each one: Atoms, amoebas, nature, chickens, toys, and unicorns. I'm also collaborating with volunteers on a project to create a new method of meditation for children that uses active imagination.
