POSITION VACANT: Industrial Officer
The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) is the professional association representing writers for stage, screen, radio and online and has protected and promoted their creative and professional interests for more than 50 years.
We are seeking a motivated and committed part-time Industrial Officer to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing AWG members with industrial advice and developing industrial instruments to promote and protect the rights and interests of writers. This is a part-time role of approx. 12 hours per week which can be worked flexibly.
The successful candidate will have a general understanding of the law of contracts and copyright and may be in their final years of completing a law degree or have a legal background. They will be competent at interpreting legal documents, and able to identify issues and explain those issues to members with no legal background. They will be methodical, organised and have great attention to detail. Above all, the successful candidate will be a self-starter and a team player who demonstrates a positive and proactive attitude, and who cares about fighting for fair and advantageous conditions for working writers.
COMMITMENT, SALARY & CONDITIONS
A fair and equitable salary will be offered for the position and will be dependent upon the candidate’s experience, training and education. Please note that we will prioritise applicants who are seeking long-term employment and who can demonstrate previous long-term commitment to a workplace.
