For many writers, breaking into TV can seem like stumbling around a dark room blindfolded. But two Queensland writers have struck big time and lit their own way into the competitive arena of Australian network television.
Simon Kennedy and Phil Enchelmaier are two Brisbane-based writers whose drama project SAFE HARBOUR is the first TV show to be developed by Matchbox Pictures as part of its initiative to generate content from Queensland.
Exploring how a single action can have a ripple effect, building and building to tsunami proportions. SAFE HARBOUR is a 4 x 1 hour drama series produced by Matchbox Pictures with major investment from Screen Australia, SBS and with state investment from Screen Queensland. NBCUniversal International Distribution will distribute the series worldwide.
How did Simon and Phil do it? What made their concept the most sellable and producable out of the hundreds of series pitched to Matchbox Queensland? What are there tips for other writers on how to strike their own lights on the industry?
Join Simon and Phil in conversation, along with special guest Anthony Mullins, Development Executive of Matchbox Pictures Queensland, to discuss the tips and techniques of a great TV pitch and advice on how to crack the industry.
Conversation and Q & A followed by networking/social drinks with local writers, directors, producers and other members of the Queensland film and television industry – all at the Waterloo Hotel (centrally located and with parking.)
