Want to be a TV writer? Ever wondered how to get your foot in the door and what to do once you’re there? Niki Aken, Lauren Merolli and Leisl Egan join Libbie Chellew to share some tips for up-and-coming TV writers.

Niki Aken

Niki is an award-winning screenwriter and script editor. Her one-hour drama credits include Underbelly: Badness (Best Original Miniseries AWGIE), ANZAC Girls (Best Adapted Miniseries AWGIE), Janet King 2 & 3, Hyde and Seek and most recently, Playmaker and IQIYI’s adaptation of the US psychological thriller, Chosen.

Lauren Merolli

Lauren is an experienced Script Coordinator, Script Editor and Development Manager. She’s worked Neighbours, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, A Place to Call Home, The Katering Show and Wentworth. Recently, Lauren wrote for sketch comedy Open Slather. Lauren is currently Development Manager for ABC TV.

Leisl Egan

Leisl is a writer and producer who has worked across a range of productions and genres. Starting out working on a web series and then Ten’s The Project, Leisl launched into a freelance career and has written and produced for children’s television, primetime comedy series and documentaries, and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
