Scripted Ink will invest $35k of script development funding across the winning projects of the 2019 Monte Miller Awards, the premiere awards identifying the future of Australian screen and stage writing talent, open for entries today.

The investment is part of Scripted Ink’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development of great writers and commercially viable projects; identifying and incubating talent through direct development funding and exposing them to production companies, broadcasters and investors to foster commercially and creatively successful partnerships.

Dedicated to uncovering the hottest new scripts and writing talent across Australia, the Monte Miller Awardsare a purpose-built and industry-recognised competition run annually by the Australian Writers’ Guild, providing an avenue for emerging screen and stage writers to have their work developed through investment and showcased directly to industry decision-makers

The winning writers and scripts will be made eligible for AWG's prestigious Pathways Program, and will be announced at an event attended by producers, distributors and leading industry figures in Melbourne in early 2020.

Previous winners Arky Michael and Kym Vercoe saw their script's future taken to new heights following their win and Scripted Ink investment: 'The Monte Miller Award was not just a fun night with other nominees, but enabled us to secure a producer for our feature project Mrs Burswood, substantial development funding from Scripted Ink, and the professional support of AWG's team who advised us on our option contract. It’s a great platform to get noticed for new writers.'

The 2019 Monte Miller Awards open Tuesday 1 October 2019 and will close 11.59pm Monday 28 October 2019 (AEDT).
