Competitions

The Australian Writers’ Guild runs numerous competitions throughout the year for produced and unproduced scripts across multiple genres and formats. Current and upcoming competitions are listed below. 

Competitions are judged by industry panels, with shortlisted and winning writers from most competitions made eligible for inclusion on AWG's Pathways program. Please see the individual competition guidelines for more information regarding eligibility and prizes.

The 2024 John Hinde Award is closed for entries. You can read about the 2024 winning writers and projects HERE. 

The 2024 Emerging Writers' Awards is closed for entries. You can read about the shortlisted writers HERE. Winners will be announced at the Awards on Thursday 25 July 2024. 

The 2024 Shane and Cathryn Brennan Prize for Playwriting is closed for entries. Entries are currently being judged and a shortlisted will be announced soon.
