The Australian Writers' Guild is proud to present Writers at Play: Creating Digital Content, a program stream dedicated to screen writing for digital media as part of a collaboration with NET-WORK-PLAY, one of Australia’s most progressive and vibrant industry events encouraging content creation for traditional and digital media.
NET-WORK-PLAY has grown out of the Australian International Documentary Conference, which holds a national and international reputation for building opportunities and collaborations between media industry creatives and funders, running from the 23 - 25 February at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Focusing on the practice of professional writing for digital platforms and defining what is the writer's role in this changing landscape, Writers at Play will encompass a vibrant set of programming initiatives designed to elicit discussion and expand the skillset of screenwriters interested in building effective writing styles for this growing field.
Writing adapts to the format and medium that one writes for and Writers at Play will give you the chance to further build your professional development and connections in the Australian and international creative market.
Join a panel of industry experts, including Guy Gadney (The Project Factory), Ester Harding (Media Stockade) and Nicole Stark (Disparity Games), as they discuss the emerging role of new and interactive media in Australia. Story and storytelling are timeless and universal but the collision of digital technologies with the narrative arts is giving birth to new modes of authorship, and story creation disrupting previously held paradigms.
There will also be a roundtable masterclass, facilitated by Ben Kilsby (Indie Games Room) and Teresa Crea (Cross Platform Writer/Director), focusing on translating the skills of authors of traditional media to the emerging interactive and games media as well as a keynote provocation session facilitated by online creative writing innovator Eli Horowitz, praised by The Guardian and The New York Times for his work in interactive and digital storytelling, including The Clock Without a Face and The Silent History.
