AWG statement on Nine Publishing strike

The Australian Writers’ Guild supports the journalists at Nine Publishing in their current negotiations and in their decision to take strike action.

“The rights and conditions of journalists underpin a healthy and thriving media industry,” said AWG Executive Director Claire Pullen. “We support the journalists at Nine Publishing in taking a stand for better wages, more diverse newsrooms and transparency around the use of Artificial Intelligence in the media.”

Strike action will be in force from 11am AEST Friday 26 July and will last for five days. The AWG advises members not to cross picket lines, actual or virtual, for the duration of the strike.
